Economic Impact of Advertising

Billions of dollars are spent on advertising in the United States each year. From billboards to internet ads, these expenditures are intended to stimulate demand, inform customers and differentiate products and services in the market place. In 2014 alone, an estimated $297 billion was spent on advertising across all industries and media types in the United States. Under current economic conditions, IHS forecasts ad spending rates will demonstrate an average annual growth rate of 3.3% from 2014 through 2019, rising to $349 billion.
